Buying A Mountain Bike – Consider This

When choosing a new mountain bike you must consider what you are going to do with it, if all you want your new mountain bike for is going for a nice leisurely ride on the canal path or a ride in the woods with the dog well you will not need a fully suspensioned downhill mountain bike with 10cm travel on the forks and a fully articulated rear end with rebound control and damping.

How to Begin.

If you do want to go for an easy ride in the park you don’t need to spend too much, if you think you will do any riding off road then big tread tires maybe all you need, but if you think you might try some rough stuff then you should consider suspension.

Gears will probably be Shimano, brakes must be V-brakes, but could be made by a few different manufacturers, all the rest of the MTB components will depend on how much you can spend. If you go to your local bike shop or big sports store and see what they’ve got to offer, then buy it or have look on the Internet and maybe you’ll,you will find the same thing at a cheaper price.

The Next Step Up.

So maybe you want to be a bit more adventurous, more off-road, more forest tracks and dry boulder river beds, then you’ll need a lighter bike, with suspension forks. All this will cost you more money, but will be worth it for the extra enjoyment and adventure. With a better mountain bike it will have a sportier handling and because it is lighter, it will be easier to struggle up the hills before you come flying down the other side. The components will again be Shimano and the quality will depend on how much money you can spend. V-brakes and Rapid-fire gear shifters, along with Shimano chain set, bottom bracket and headset. Handle bars, stem and seat pin should be alloy and along with a comfortable saddle you’ll be set to take to the hills.

More Money, More Bike.

The next rung up on the mountain bike ladder would be good enough to race on. There are many to choose from, get on the net and surf the bike manufacturers sites and all the shop sites along with the magazines for juicy photos of the bikes.

The top manufacturers in this price range, I would say are: – Trek, Giant, Specialized and Cannondale, these companies make the nicest frames with the best mountain bike parts available at the price, gears will be either Shimano or SRAM, brakes could be V-brakes or cable disc brakes, both are very good and light, most of the other MTB parts, of course will be Shimano and as usual get the best you can afford. There are many combinations of hubs and rims to make up your wheels; hubs from Shimano and rims form Mavic are the usual mix. Then you have to choose which suspension forks to put on you bike, you may not get a choice, depending on which bike you buy, the main ones are RockShox, Suntour, RST, Manitou, Fox, and Marzocchi, suspension forks buy any of these and you wont go far wrong.

What You Don’t know About Search and Web Analytics

In an interactive agency full of creative, vibrant, idea people, I’m the web analytics expert wearing the Coke-bottle glasses and pocket protector who counts all of the traffic to our clients’ sites.

I analyze website traffic, campaign data, and the like to describe and explain users’ behaviors and how those behaviors impact business goals. Something not many people do or understand. And when you’ve done what I do for as long as I’ve done it (about seven years now), you tend to get a little full of yourself. Well, at least I do. People in marketing are often anxious about math and Microsoft Excel. I do what I can to foster that angst in the name of job security.

However, being the results guy has led me to the often mistaken conclusion that I can get the whole picture using the site data at my disposal. I can tell you what users’ needs are by where they go on a site. I can tell you where users run into trouble by where they leave a site, particularly if they leave in the middle of a process. I can tell you about users’ expectations of the information architecture by the paths they take, the paths they don’t, and by which ones convert better.

But I’ve got to admit that Web traffic data can’t tell you everything. It can’t tell you much about users’ intent. It can’t tell you what users are really looking for or how they would describe what they’re looking for. Fortunately, that’s where my friends in the search engine marketing department come in.

Of course I believed that I understood search for years. Yes, I understood the difference between an organic and a sponsored listing. I understood what paid inclusion was, how some engines powered others, and why your search rankings may not improve overnight. I even understood what meta tags were, why they were so important in the past, and why they are now so marginalized, poor things.

What I didn’t see was the big picture. Understanding how users search, what keywords and engines they use, and how they respond to content within the context of their search peels another layer off the onion of true understanding (I’m sorry for that analogy, I really am). By looking at how users find your site, you can learn so much more about intent and perspective than you can by simply looking at a user’s path out of context.

A great example of this deeper understanding occurred while I was working with our search marketing team to develop and measure keyword categories. We took the keyword list we had selected for optimization and created logical groups. By looking at keyword groups, we were essentially building customer segments that gave us greater insight into behavior. We can now track the popularity of searches within keyword groups to see the effect of business cycles, news, and promotion on search behavior. We can also track conversion by keyword group to better understand how our client’s site meets the needs of different audiences.

I will resist the temptation to say that after working with our search marketing team, I now know all there is to know. What I think I’ve learned is that I had better take the thick glasses off before they ruin my vision. And hopefully what you’ve learned is that there’s a lot more to tracking site traffic and search marketing than meets the eye.

Family Counseling: Finding the Right Counselor

Conflict and relationship troubles triggered by life events or circumstances are frequent happenings amongst two or more people and families are no exception to this rule. Despite the fact that family counseling has been confirmed time and again to be very effective at resolving intra family conflict, not many families choose this option when faced with family conflict because they deem the method to be very costly and unnecessary. Although it is true that family counseling can occasionally go beyond the budget range of an average family, there are various institutions that provide less expensive options for family members who require counseling but are unable to achieve this in the way of finance.

A common misassumption by people is that more affordable family counseling are generally less efficient than the more costly kind—this is definitely not true. For many family counseling practitioners, the thrill of providing relief and comfort to couples who need this is far greater than the how much they receive for this services and thus the quality of the provided therapy, not the charged price, should be the more deciding factor.

Family counseling for families who do not have insurance or the financial ability to pay for more than one service on their own are likely to seek aid through any number of local resources, including local health centers, family advocacy groups, health clinics, and recommendations from general practice physicians and other health practitioner. Regardless of the type of conflict a family might be going through; family communication problems or something similar, by employing the services of family therapy, they are assured to make some vital improvements. While family therapy services are not always able to yield a definitive solution for all clients, they can often aid families in uncovering the vital concerns causing their difficulties and to develop techniques for stopping these concerns from becoming more damaging.

Advanced Stage Prostate Cancer And Medical Malpractice

Physicians generally use a blood test, called the PSA test, to screen men with no symptoms for cancer of the prostate.  Physicians generally agree that abnormal PSA levels trigger a need to inform the patient he may have cancer and to either refer the patient to a specialist or order diagnostic testing to rule out prostate cancer.  Yet, delayed diagnosis of prostate cancer cases happen all too often.

Consider the following reported cases.  In the first reported case, a doctor help off for two years after consecutive high PSA test results prior to informing the male patient that the patient may have cancer.  By the time the man was diagnosed the result was that he had advanced prostate cancer.  The law firm that represented this man reported they were able to settle the matter for $600,000 on the man’s behalf.  In the second reported case, a physician took 16 months, with three consecutive high PSA test results, before informing his patient, a 64 year old man.  Prior to that the physician had actually told the man that the results were normal for a man his age.  The result: the cancer had already spread to the man’s seminal vesicles. The law firm that handled this matter was able to report a settlement of $1.5 million on the patient’s behalf.

As these two lawsuits show, if a doctor does not follow up on an abnormal cancer screening test result and the patient’s cancer progresses to an advanced stage during the delay caused by the physician, a cancer lawyer can help you figure out if that physician is liable for malpractice.  In the worst case situation, a wrongful death attorney can assist the patient’s family find out if they may have a claim for wrongful death.  The above should not be considered medical or legal advice.  You should always consult with a doctor before taking medical advice or making a medical decision.  And always consult with an attorney concerning any potential legal matter.
